Met with students who are planning a “Films for Formula” Film Festival next term. This will run over 3 lunchtimes and show 8-10 student stopmotion animations and a dv. Money raised goes to supplying formula for the village ophanage. The project is under the umbrella of Intercept Poverty. Read more about their project here.

I’ve just completed some tutorials [mp4] using Mac OSX Open Source / Freeware apps. They are Bean [OSX Wordprocessor], Paintbrush [Bitmap Paint app] & Pencil [OSX/Win/Linux 2D Animation app]. Tutorials are at http://www.ictedservices.info/ict_tasks/opensource_task.htm. Please comment if useful!

Some exciting ideas are being worked on, where some online activities developed by students from the local Environmental Cluster [3 schools] will support the orphanage and school of Kidane Meheret, near Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Watch this space as the project unfolds. Find out more about the village on their website.

Getting towards the end of Semester 1/ 2008. What do my students think of the content and delivery of my lessons in our new ICT Teaching and Learning Centre? I am going to survey all my Year 3 – 6 students on these questions using an online survey designed with SurveyMonkey. Will publish a summary of the results at the end of term [a brave idea, some would say!] on this blog. What this space in three week’s time!

Here’s my job of ICT Coordinator as a mind map. [I'm an ICT coordinator in a state primary school with 550+ students. The School is located in Victoria, Australia.] View the mind map at http://www.gliffy.com/publish/1435019/.

Finally reorganised many examples of work that students have done in my classes over the past three years. A range of work here on stopmotion animation [Years 3-4], Digital Video [Years 5-6] and Website design using iWeb [Years 5-8]. The site is www.ictedservices.info/. Enjoy and comment if you find useful!

While www.ictedservices.com/ is the main website of ICTeD Services, I am rebuilding another site which has many examples of work I have done with students in the fields of DV, animation and website authoring. You may be interested in looking at this site, to which I am currently adding more content and samples of student work in ICT. Watch the next post!

As part of a school eLearning Plans I’ve used Gliffy to map the tasks involved in school ICT Coordination. While not completed at the time of this post will be a useful starting point for discussions. Will post link here when complete. Thanks for the comment Debi K from Gliffy. I’m glad you are following the use of your product. I like it so much I’ve signed up as a premium user.

I’ve been putting some of my ICT for Visualising Thinking resources on my www.ictedservices.com website. While there are only seven at the moment, they have all been road tested successfully in classrooms. I will continue to build on these. If you use them let me know how you go with them. I’ve used Gliffy www.gliffy.com in presenting many of them. I love this tool!!
